Tempur-Pedic is one of the most well-known mattress brands. The company’s claim to fame is having introduced memory foam into the mattress world. Tempur-Pedic was founded in 1992 and merged with Sealy in 2012, forming a powerhouse in the industry.

While many customers are most familiar with Tempur-Pedic’s mattresses, the company offers a variety of other products, including pillows, bed bases, bedding, stuffed animals, slippers, seat cushions, mattress toppers, and more.

This review focuses on the Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers. Tempur-Pedic offers two different mattress toppers: the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme and the TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper. Both toppers feature three inches of proprietary TEMPUR memory foam material that is built to contour to the body to provide comfort and support. The TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper also offers additional features to promote a cooler night’s sleep.

While the two mattress toppers have a lot in common, there are some key differences that may make you prefer one topper over the other. In this review, we’ll discuss these two mattress toppers to give you a better understanding of what they offer and what sets them apart.

Tempur-Pedic Topper Sizing and Pricing

Tempur-Pedic sells mattress toppers for all standard mattress sizes. We’ll list the the dimensions below for these sizes below, but Tempur-Pedic notes that there can be slight variations in the exact measurements of any individual topper.

The thickness of a memory foam mattress topper can affect how much it allows you to sink in, and therefore how much contouring and support you experience. Because of this, sleepers with sharp pressure points may prefer a thicker topper. Additionally, a thicker mattress topper will change the feel of your mattress more significantly, while a thinner mattress topper will offer a more subtle variation. Both Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers share the same thickness.

The price between mattress toppers can vary dramatically. These price differences are usually due to differences in materials and construction. Some materials cost more than others, and this expense is generally reflected in the retail price. However, more expensive mattress toppers can have some distinct benefits that less expensive toppers do not provide. As a result, the overall value of a mattress topper depends largely on whether you want the extra advantages of pricier options. The following table shows the price for the Tempur-Pedic toppers in the Queen size.

What Type of Sleeper is Good for a Tempur-Pedic Mattress Topper?

Weight and sleep position impact how you experience a mattress, and not surprisingly, they influence your experience on a mattress topper as well.

Sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds may benefit from a thicker, firmer mattress topper that offers cushioning without compressing too much under their weight. Sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds may prefer a softer mattress topper that allows them to sink in with more ease.

Sleep position may also influence which mattress topper is right for you. Side sleepers often experience sharp pressure points, so they may prefer a thicker mattress topper that can offer more cushioning. Stomach and back sleepers may need extra support to prevent heavier body parts from sinking in too deeply, so they might prefer a firmer mattress topper.

The TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper and the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme may appeal to a wide variety of sleepers. Below, we’ll show you which groups we think each topper is best for.

Materials and Construction

While the TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper and the TEMPUR-Topper Supreme share some similarities in construction, there are some notable differences between the materials. Understanding how the toppers are constructed can help you select which option you prefer.

  • TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper: The TEMPUR-Adapt + Cooling Topper uses three inches of TEMPUR ES material. The mattress topper cover works to promote a cooler night’s sleep by offering breathability and cooling properties. It is resistant to dust mites and allergens, and it can be removed for easy washing.

How to Use a Mattress Topper

If your Tempur-Pedic mattress topper comes with specific setup instructions, read and follow them closely. If not, you can unpackage and set up your mattress cover by following these general guidelines for memory foam mattress toppers:

  • Before unpacking the mattress topper, move the package to the room of your choice.
  • Carefully unwrap the mattress topper. Be sure not to puncture the topper when cutting away the packaging.
  • Place the mattress topper on a flat surface away from heat sources, including direct sunlight.
  • Allow the mattress to unfold and expand on its own.
  • Give the topper some time to air out so that there are not any lingering manufacturing odors. This may take between a few hours and a few days.
  • Place the mattress topper directly on top of your mattress as evenly as possible.
  • Make your bed and tightly secure your fitted sheet over the topper and mattress to hold them firmly in place.

Both Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers feature removable, washable covers. To clean, unzip the cover and wash it in cold water. It is preferable to air dry the cover, but you can also dry it on a very low-heat setting. Avoid using harsh products, including chlorine and many chemical stain removers.

Remember that the foam used in the mattress toppers cannot be washed or dry cleaned.

Always follow the care instructions that arrive with your bedding products, including mattress toppers. These instructions are designed for specific products, and following them can help improve the product’s longevity.
