Founded in March of 2018, Allswell is a new company in the mattress industry, but it has gained attention for its slate of products. Allswell is owned by Walmart but offers its products online. Though not quite as low-budget as most Walmart products, Allswell nevertheless works to provide solid quality and excellent values on their mattresses and mattress toppers.

Allwell offers three different mattresses, ranging from an entry-level option to a more expensive hybrid, as well as three mattress toppers and an assortment of bedding products like robes, towels, and slippers.

All three Allswell mattress toppers are made with memory foam, but variations in their construction create different a different feel and performance for each one.

The three toppers offered by Allswell include:

  • 3” Memory Foam Topper Infused with Graphite: Made of a single layer of open-cell memory foam, this topper relies on air circulation for cooling properties. An infusion of graphite adds cooling properties.
  • 4” Memory Foam Topper Infused with Copper Gel: This topper is made of two layers of memory foam to provide both support and comfort. The open-cell foam maximizes air circulation, and the infused copper offers both cooling and antimicrobial properties.
  • 4” CoolTouch Memory Foam Topper with Graphite & Copper Gel: This topper features a two-layer memory foam construction to provide comfort and responsiveness. The open-cell memory foam permits air circulation through the topper, and both graphite and copper gel further enhance the cooling properties. The copper gel also contributes valuable antimicrobial properties.

The Allswell mattress toppers are available in multiple thickness options. Thicker toppers offer more cushion and durability, but thinner toppers made of quality materials can still add comfort to your mattress. Before you buy a thicker topper, make sure that the extra height won’t make it difficult to get into your bed, and check to see that your sheets will fit over both the thicker topper and your mattress. If you already have a thicker mattress, you may need deep fitted sheets to accommodate the mattress and a thick topper.

Just like mattresses, mattress toppers vary in price. Factors like the materials used and the number of layers can increase a mattress topper’s price. Investing in a higher-priced topper that is more durable can pay off if that topper lasts longer. Other factors, like the inclusion of cooling gel for temperature regulation, may make a topper more expensive but may also mean that you’ll get better quality sleep.

What Type of Sleeper is Good for an Allswell Mattress Topper?

No one mattress topper suits every sleeper, and factors like a sleeper’s weight and sleeping position matter when choosing a topper. Heavier sleepers will benefit from a firmer, thicker mattress topper that offers plenty of support, while lighter sleepers may find a thinner, softer topper more comfortable.

Sleep position also influences which topper will work best. Back sleepers often prefer a topper that’s firm yet responsive enough to maintain proper spinal alignment. Stomach sleepers need a topper that is firmer and that offers plenty of support through the stomach area to prevent the abdomen from sinking into the topper too deeply. Side sleepers often prefer softer toppers, since firmer surfaces can create pressure on their shoulders, hips, and knees.

When choosing the best mattress topper for your needs, be sure to consider how a topper will best support your weight and favorite sleeping position.

Materials and Construction

A mattress topper’s material and construction affect its performance, weight, and feel. Materials and construction can affect how toppers respond to and support your body, regulate temperature, restrict motion transfer, and more. While all of the Allswell mattress toppers are made of memory foam, some differences in added materials and their construction give the toppers some variety in their features and performance.

  • Allswell Graphite Topper: This topper is constructed of a single 3” layer of Coolflow™ memory foam. This open-cell memory foam allows air to freely circulate through the topper for temperature regulation. The topper is also infused with graphite, which transfers heat from the body for a cooler night’s sleep. Memory foam offers excellent contouring properties to keep you comfortable and relieving pressure points. It also prevents motion transfer, making this topper a desirable choice for couples.
  • Allswell Copper Gel Topper: This topper is constructed of two layers of Coolflow™ memory foam for a total height of 4”. The bottom layer of foam provides support while the top layer focuses more on comfort. The open-cell foam maximizes air circulation, and this topper has been infused with copper gel that has both cooling and antimicrobial properties for a more comfortable and healthier topper. Because the topper is made of memory foam, it offers excellent contouring and motion transfer benefits.
  • Allswell CoolTouch Topper: The CoolTouch™ Topper’s construction is the most complex of these three toppers. Like the Copper Gel Topper, it features two layers of Coolflow™ memory foam and a height of 4”. The bottom layer creates support, and the top layer offers comfort. Since both layers are open-cell foam, air circulates well through the topper. This topper has been infused with both copper gel and graphite, both of which help to keep the topper cool. Additionally, the copper gel’s antimicrobial properties make for a healthier sleep environment.

How to Use a Mattress Topper

Allswell mattress toppers are rolled up, wrapped in plastic, and shipped in a cardboard box. Once the topper arrives, remove it from the box and carefully cut away the plastic wrap. Unroll the topper and place it on a flat surface so that it can expand. Because memory foam does off-gas, you will probably notice a faint odor for the first day or so. If you’re sensitive to smells, you may want to let the mattress air out in another room for a day before sleeping on it.

When you’re ready to use the topper, place it on top of your mattress. The 3” topper can be placed with either side up. If you order the 4” toppers, place them so that the colored, infused side of the topper faces up. These toppers do not have any straps to hold them in place, so you will want to put your sheets snugly over the topper and mattress to limit their movement. Use a deep fitted sheet that will accommodate the height of both your mattress and the topper. You may also want to put a mattress protector over the topper to help keep it clean.

Mattress toppers, including the Allswell mattress toppers, cannot be cleaned in a washing machine and should be spot cleaned only. Use only a damp cloth with warm water and mild detergent and avoid getting the topper too wet. Do not machine wash or machine dry the mattress topper.
